Representatives of the largest Czech companies from the areas of finance and telecommunications have attended the BPM conference. A quick research was conducted during the conference where 45 respondents from important Czech companies have described their view on process management and automation within their companies.
Thanks to this research we now have a unique opportunity to show what the local companies think of optimization, management and measuring of the business processes using IT technologies.
The results of the research:
- In your company, is the implementation and operation of BPM a job of the IT department or of the business departments? 43% respondents claim that it is a job of the IT dept. and, again, 43% say it is a job of the business departments.
- Surprisingly, only 14% of the respondents have said that it is a common activity for both business and IT
The high number of responses in favor of the IT department may show that IT is expected to come up with a proposal to support the activities of the business departments. The number of companies where business and IT departments cooperate on BPM is rather low, even though this cooperation is a key factor for efficient BPM operations.
- 41% of respondents think that their company could find arguments to support process automation (BPM) especially in saving on the human resources
- 37% claim the main arguments would be the support of key processes, their optimization and related competitive advantages
- The remaining 22% say that the BPM boom would result in modernization and savings on the IT
- 85% of respondents think it is logical not just to implement BPM but also to introduce tools to measure and evaluate the processes
- Furthermore, over 75% of these respondents consider it important to be able to "virtualize" processes, to evaluate them continuously, and to display the performance of the processes and the employees by comparing these with the prescribed KPI and business SLA.
The ability to measure and monitor processes means that the company is always able to find a problem or an opportunity, that it can built an employee motivation and remuneration system on the performance indicators or verify whether the process optimization really was profitable.
The introduction of BPM activities using advanced technologies brings the companies many opportunities to get a better use of their own business potential, to gain competitive advantages and to swiftly react on process changes. As for our customers who have implemented a BPM solution, the most commonly mentioned benefits are unification and consolidation, reduced manual workload thanks to automation and a quick preparation and implementation of process applications.
